A video has emerged of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State seemingly mocking Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the video sighted by POLITICS NIGERIA, Bello, a 2023 presidential aspirant on the platform of the ruling party, conspicuously raised each sleeve of his agbada (loose-fitting robe worn by men in Nigeria), similar to how Tinubu did when he aimed a dig at Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State in Abeokuta in June.
It is not clear when exactly the video was filmed, but the Kogi governor seems to imitate his party’s presidential flagbearer while alighting from the vehicle.
Some political observers have translated his act to disunity within the APC.
Bello had lost in the June primary election of the APC, which produced Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, as the winner.
He has since pledged to support Tinubu. In fact, this week, the leadership of a group loyal to Governor Bello, the GYB Network 4 Asiwaju, met the vice presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Kashim Shettima, with an assurance of full support.
