The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) launched a heavy protest in Abuja on Wednesday calling on the Federal government to urgently release funds for the country’s university system.
Universities have been shut down for months as the Federal government has vehemently refused to accede to ASUU’s demands for payment of owed salaries.
The Protest which commenced at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, witnessed the presence of Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke amongst many others.
The Protest has grounded Activities in Central Area of FCT as Scores of protesters were seen carrying placards with several inscriptions that called on the relevant agencies to attend to their demands. They blocked major roads causing serious traffic jams in the area.
