Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District and former Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, on Wednesday said the impeachment notice served to President Muhammadu Buhari is not just the decision of the minority caucus, but all the lawmakers in the ninth National Assembly.
Abaribe said this in an interview on Arise TV, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA.
This newspaper had reported that Senators of the opposition parties walked out of the plenary session on Wednesday.
The lawmakers, numbering over 20, walked out of the chamber after the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, shut down a motion on insecurity and impeachment of President Buhari.
Commenting on the scene, Abaribe declared that he and his colleagues are “very firm” in their decision.
“I can tell you without any equivocation that this is a reflection of the entire senate. A decision was reached that this is no more business as usual,” Abaribe said.
“We were very firm in our decision.
“We are tired of talking, and nothing seems to be done.
“That is why we said ‘no more talk, let us move beyond that to action’.”
