As the 2023 election approaches, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Princewill Ukaegbu has left the party for the Action People’s Party (APP).
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Ukaegbu, a former Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area (LGA), is expected to officially announce his move next week.
Meanwhile, the APC has frowned at the lingering disunity in the Abia State chapter of the party and has set up a peace and reconciliation committee “to bring the party together”.
Abia APC was embroiled in a fresh crisis after the governorship primary and it has persisted in spite of the reconciliation meeting of June 18, 2022, held at Ntalakwu, Oboro Ikwuano LGA.
However, the National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, announced an eight-member reconciliation committee Wednesday after “a comprehensive meeting” in Abuja between the National Working Committee and stakeholders from Abia.
