Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has said that he will have no problem with legislation if he becomes Nigeria’s leader in 2023.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that with regard to national election, the Labour Party is not a major political platform in Nigeria. And with the country being a federal republic where the constitution provides a separation and balance of powers among the three branches of government, some political analysts project that a ruling party outside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will find it tough when it comes to law-making.
“It is not the first time I’m experiencing it. I was governor of Anambra State without one house member from my party (All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA). 30 house members were from another party,” Obi said in an interview on News Central TV on Friday night, monitored by this newspaper.
“No Senator, no local government, everybody was from another party.”
Before moving to the Labour Party in May, Obi was a member of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the PDP. Under the party, he was a Vice-Presidential candidate (in the 2019 general elections).
