The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Information, Mohammed Yakubu Lawal, and his son Mushab Mohammed Yakubu Lawal have been kidnapped by heavily-armed bandits at his residence in Government Reserved Area (GRA), Nasarawa Eggon.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the Lawals were kidnapped at about 9 pm on Monday after sporadic shootings.
His son was reportedly later released.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the state police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel said the command was yet to receive such report.
The abduction of the Commissioner is happening two days after robbers invaded the Government Science Secondary School, in the same Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, and killed a worker.
Another staff member of the school was also shot, but he survived the attack.
In spite of government efforts, the security situation in Nigeria is deteriorating.
