Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ben Igbakpa representing Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that following his exit from the PDP, Igbakpa joined the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
“There comes a time when you have to be man enough to look around, take a position and make a choice. I made my choice. No more questions,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle recently, with accompanying picture of the NNPP.
The NNPP on Thursday welcomed him to their party. “Welcome to the winning team, Honorable. Victory is assured!” it said.
It would be recalled that Igbakpa lost to the daughter of a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, Mrs Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, during the PDP’s primary election earlier this year.
This newspaper understands that Barrister Christian Akpokiniovo who bought the House of Representatives form of the NNPP withdrew for Igbakpa, thus the lawmaker will be running for House of Representatives again in 2023.
