ADC Chieftain Accuses APC of Plot to Make Tinubu Sole Candidate in 2027

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is making moves to ensure that President Bola Tinubu emerges as the only candidate on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made the claim on Thursday during an interview where the former presidential aspirant dismissed the significance of the APC having 31 governors across the country, insisting that the development poses no threat to the opposition. According to him, if elections were conducted today, the ruling party would lose.

The Ovation Magazine publisher also criticised the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils elections.

“The APC is trying to ensure that President Tinubu is the only candidate on the ballot.

“They are attempting to manoeuvre the system, but Nigerians are wiser than that. We in the ADC are neither worried nor panicking.

“In just one election in a small city like the FCT, a curfew had to be declared, and the FCT minister practically acted like the Inspector-General of Police, personally supervising polling units across the city,” he said.
