Deji Adeyanju, a prominent public commentator, on Friday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will emerge the winner in the 2023 presidential election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adeyanju hinged his prediction on ‘lack of opposition’.
Indirectly, he berated his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for only “issuing press releases”, while branding the Labour Party as “just noise makers on social media”.
“There’s no opposition in Nigeria but just noise makers on social media and another issuing press releases from time to time. That’s why the APC will win in February,” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
On February 25, 2023, voters in Nigeria will pick a new leader to succeed incumbent APC President Muhammadu Buhari, who cannot run after serving the two terms allowed by the constitution.
The main presidential contest is between ruling party candidate Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor and main opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar, who was vice-president between 1999-2007.
But Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and Abubakar’s running mate in the 2019 elections, has excited a large number of youths after joining a smaller opposition party, Labour Party, and could be a presidential wildcard in 2023.
