The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Senator Naomi Akwachika as the Chairman of a seven-man committee set up to organize a convention and elect a new National Working Committee (NWC).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the decision was arrived at on Monday during an emergency NEC meeting held in Abuja amid the purported sack of the ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu.
The ADC was thrown into crisis on Saturday when it announced the suspension of its 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.
A statement released by the Deputy National Chairman (Politics) of the party, Bamidele Ajadi, said Kachikwu was suspended for speaking against Nwosu’s leadership, among other infractions.
The ADC presidential candidate, in a counter press conference on the same day, dismissed his suspension and questioned the constitutional rights of Nwosu-led NWC to do so.
