PDP Crisis: Why Wike was absent at Atiku’s meeting with PDP Ex-Presidential Aspirants

Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike was conspicuously absent at a meeting on Wednesday between the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 Ex-Presidential aspirants of the party in Asokoro, Abuja.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that apart from Wike, Ex-Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki And Anyim Pius Anyim, who were also aspirants, were absent from the meeting. However, Dele Momodu, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Tari Oliver, and Charles Ugwu were all present.

Atiku commended them for accepting the outcome of the convention that produced him as the PDP flag bearer, and for not raising the dust.

He promised to work with all of them ahead of the 2023 general elections, adding that they have various roles to play in his victory at the polls.

This newspaper learned that Wike was in port-harcourt, Rivers state where he hosted his ally, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Makinde commissioned the Emohua Campus of the Rivers State University in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

It can be recalled that Atiku and Wike have been at loggerheads since the PDP Presidential Primaries in May.

Atiku polled 371 to defeat his closest rival, Wike, who polled 237 votes.
