JUST IN: Police Service Commission clears seven AIGs for DIG rank

Seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) invited by the Police Service Commission (PSC) for promotion interviews have passed the screening.

The officers are scheduled to be decorated as Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) by IGP Tunji Disu on Monday.

The development comes as some DIGs are expected to retire following the appointment of Disu as inspector-general of police.

An internal police wireless message from the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja showed that the interactive promotion examination took place on Friday at 9am.

The interview was held at the chairman’s conference room on the sixth floor of the PSC corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

The officers invited for the exercise are Zacharia Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and Umar Shehu Nadada.

The message, issued on behalf of the IGP, directed the officers to attend the session as scheduled and refresh their knowledge in their core areas of duty, including professional studies, relevant laws, and local police regulations.

The officers were also instructed to appear in conventional attire comprising a black jacket, beret, and swagger cane.

The promotion process is part of routine career progression within the Nigeria Police Force and is conducted in collaboration with the PSC, which oversees appointments, promotions, and discipline of senior police officers.
