BREAKING: Former Rivers Governor, Amaechi Officially Joins ADC

Former Rivers State Governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi completed his registration at Ward 8 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Friday morning, marking a new political chapter for the influential politician ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His registration took place amid tension in the community following an early morning fire incident that affected the ADC office in the area.

The office, located in Amaechi’s hometown, was partially destroyed after it was reportedly set ablaze by unidentified persons.

Residents of the community woke up to the incident, which caused panic in parts of the area. Despite the development, the registration exercise went ahead under the watch of security operatives deployed to maintain order.

Speaking shortly after completing his registration, Amaechi urged his supporters to remain peaceful and avoid any form of violence.

“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody . Don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” he said.

The former minister also commended security agencies for their conduct during the event, noting that officers on ground handled the situation professionally.

“We thank the commissioner of police and the director of DSS; they showed a lot of professionalism. In fact, I wasn’t expecting that from them; I thought they would be behind the criminals,” he said.

Amaechi further called on security authorities to investigate the fire incident and bring those responsible to justice, stressing that acts of intimidation would not stop the activities of the party in the state.

The former Rivers governor remains a prominent figure within the ADC and has been actively engaging political stakeholders across the country as discussions around the 2027 presidential election continue.
