The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Tuesday nullified the governorship primary election that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in his ruling, Justice Simon Amobeda directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh governorship primary in the state within 14 days.
The suit was filed by one of the governorship aspirants, David Sabo Kente.
The judge also ordered Bwacha, Senator representing Taraba South, to stop parading himself as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the APC and INEC to stop recognising Bwacha as a candidate.
Justice Amobeda argued that it is not possible for all the primary results to have the same handwriting while the Returning Officer declared that no primary was held in the state at the police headquarters due to security threats.
Reacting to the judgment, counsels for the APC and sacked candidate stated that they will study the judgment before announcing their next line of action.
