Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced a Pastor, Ayodeji Ibrahim Oluokun, to two years in prison.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Pastor Oluokun, an assistant pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Victoria Island, Lagos State, was jailed on Tuesday.
His conviction came, consequent upon his arraignment by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), alongside his company, Peak Petroleum Industry Nigeria Limited, on an amended six-count charge bordering on the issuance of dud cheques, stealing, and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $1.6 million on January 19, 2019.
The offences contravened Sections 1(1) (b) of the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Act, Cap D 11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and Section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences.
Justice Taiwo, in her judgment, ordered the convict to make restitution of 1.6 million dollars to the nominal complainant within 18 months.
