Ahead of the 2023 election, four chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State have left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the decampees were led by Ahmed Abubakar Walama.
Walama was the Chairman of Dukku Local Government Area (LGA) and a two-term Commissioner in the state.
The others defectors are, Sa’idu Kawuwa Malala, who was a former local government chairman, member of the state assembly and commissioner; Maigari Usman Malala, a former special adviser in the state; and Mohammed Ya’u, a former youth leader of the PDP in Dukku LGA of the state.
In a piece of related news, the Gombe State government on Tuesday inaugurated a Revenue Recovery Tribunal “to curb tax evasion and boost revenue generation in the state”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya while inaugurating the tribunal in Gombe said the move was aimed at strengthening the revenue system to ensure provision of social amenities to citizens for the overall development of the state.
According to him, the establishment of the tribunal would serve as catalyst to boost its revenue base and provide the needed resources to fast track social and economic development of the state.
