2027: South-East APC Declares Support for Tinubu’s Second Term Bid

The South-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has openly declared its backing for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Party leaders from the region made their position known after a high-level meeting of the APC South-East Zonal Expanded Executive Committee held in Abuja.

At the end of the meeting, the group released a communiqué affirming its commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The meeting was chaired by the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Ijeomah Arodiogbu. It brought together newly elected state party chairmen from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo, alongside other key members of the zonal executive committee.

According to Arodiogbu, the gathering focused on strengthening the party’s structure in the South-East and positioning it ahead of future electoral contests. Discussions also centred on internal unity and strategies to improve the party’s political influence across the region.

He said the zone had resolved to support the president’s second-term bid.

“The South East Zonal Executive Committee reaffirms its total and unwavering support for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the forthcoming presidential election,” he said.

The communiqué also highlighted the committee’s endorsement of APC governors and other elected officials of the party serving at different levels of government.

“The Committee equally reiterates its full and unalloyed support for all APC Governors in the South East zone, as well as all elected representatives and officials of the party at federal, state, and local levels,” the communique read.

Party leaders at the meeting further urged members across the five South-East states to close ranks and work together to strengthen the party’s electoral chances.

Arodiogbu stressed that unity among members would be crucial for the party to record victories in future elections in the region.

“The meeting resolved that party members and leaders across the South East zone shall work in unity and with a shared commitment to deliver comprehensive electoral victories for the APC in the presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and State House of Assembly elections throughout the zone,” Arodiogbu stated.

He also called on members of the party to remain committed to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda while working to expand the party’s presence in the South-East.
