The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday chastised Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, for failing to publicly endorse the party’s presidential flag-bearer for the 2023 election, Bola Tinubu.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Basil Ejidike, the Chairman of the Anambra State of the APC, dissociated the state chapter of the party from Ngige’s comment on Channels Television last Friday.
According to Ejidike, Ngige’s comments on Channels TV were his personal stance – and not the position of the Anambra State chapter of the APC. Ngige is a former governor of the state.
“Ngige never said he represented the party during the interview and whatever he said was personal and does not reflect the position of the party in Anambra state,” Ejidike said during a press briefing on Thursday.
This newspaper recalls that at the said interview, Ngige was asked who he is backing between Tinubu and his kinsman, Peter Obi (Labour Party), and the 70-year-old chose to be neutral.
