The legal team of Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has sent an official notice to Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, for the separatist leader to be released immediately.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Director-General (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, was also notified.
It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal (Abuja Division) had last Thursday freed Kanu of the terrorism and treasonable felony charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.
While the FG is reluctant to comply with the court’s verdict, Kanu’s lawyers served the DSS and Malami the appeal court judgment, and according to the IPOB Leader’s senior counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, “We expect definite compliance today (Tuesday)”.
“Final formal notice for the release of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu issued to both the Attorney General of the Federation and Director General of the State Security Service.
“We expect definite compliance today as we are monitoring event,” Ejiofor wrote on his known Twitter handle with the accompanying documents.
