Wike under fire over ‘reckless charity to outsiders’

The Spokesman of the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), Darlington Nwauju has expressed serious displeasure with the donations made by the governor of the state, Nyesom Wike to some individuals in other states.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Governor Wike had on Tuesday donated N300 Million to the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials and hours later donated N200Million support to a library built by his political ally, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

“We congratulate the Governor of Rivers State for being the first amongst his peers to have doled out several millions of naira in free will donations to states across the country,” Vanguard quotes Nwauju as saying.

“From Sokoto to Benue, from Bayelsa to Cross Rivers. Even unto funding a privately owned University in Rivers State.

“What we keep wondering is from what part of the state budget the Governor makes these humongous donations.

“Now, we hear of another N300M to wives of officials of the Lagos State Government; a state way ahead of Rivers State on all fronts and N200m in Abia state.

“Indeed, our Governor maybe courting the image of a humanitarian in the eyes of the unsuspecting public, but, permit us to ask – how does these donations impact the lives of ordinary Rivers people?”

  1. I pity the people of Rivers State. I think it is high time they start asking questions to find where their governor is getting the money is donating here and there with reckless abandon. Where these money approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly. They have to ask questions.because another governor may come bahave same. Many communities in River State are going through hell as a result of infrastructural decay and many are whallowing in poverty

  2. Wike is giving out shame to buy fame.He has killed his presidential ambition with reckless verbal attacks and childshness, even if he spends the state annual budget he had already damaged himself politically.
