JUST IN: Massive Fire Erupts After Multi-Vehicle Crash in Lagos

A serious road accident involving several vehicles caused panic on Monday morning along Admiralty Way in Lagos after one of the vehicles burst into flames.

The incident happened inward the Admiralty Roundabout axis of Admiralty Way in Lekki, a busy commercial corridor in Lagos.

According to traffic authorities, the crash involved three vehicles and quickly escalated after one of them caught fire, sending thick smoke into the sky and forcing motorists to flee the immediate area.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed the development in a public update shared on Monday. Officials said the collision occurred near Road 14 along Admiralty Way, close to Admiralty Roundabout.

Footage from the scene showed a vehicle completely engulfed in flames. The fire produced heavy black smoke that could be seen from a distance. Road users quickly abandoned the lane while emergency responders rushed to contain the situation.

Traffic movement in the area was heavily disrupted. Authorities diverted motorists through Road 14, allowing them to reconnect through Durosimi Etti Road to avoid the burning vehicle and the accident scene. Commuters experienced delays as officers attempted to manage the sudden congestion.

Emergency firefighters later arrived and battled the flames. By the time the fire was brought under control, the affected vehicle had been completely burnt. No immediate confirmation was given regarding possible injuries or casualties at the time of filing this report.

Officials of LASTMA remained at the location to regulate traffic and guide motorists through alternative routes. Officers also introduced a temporary counterflow arrangement to ease congestion and help vehicles reconnect back to Admiralty Roundabout.

Security personnel were also expected at the scene. Authorities said officers of the Nigeria Police and additional fire service teams were mobilised to support rescue operations and secure the affected area.

Efforts were ongoing to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic movement along the busy Lekki corridor.
