Leadership goes beyond saying I own only one wristwatch – Shettima disses Obi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Senator Kashim Shettima, has criticised the Labour Party presidential flag-bearer, Peter Obi, for a 2017 statement credited to him where he said he has had only one wristwatch for 17 years.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Shettima spoke at a town-hall meeting and dialogue with the business community in Lagos on Tuesday.

“Leadership goes beyond glamourising poverty. We don’t glamourise poverty, we fight poverty.

“I won’t tell you that I have two pairs of shoes, or I have a single watch, no.

“Leadership goes beyond spewing dubious statistics or basking in a mediocre performance as the governor of Anambra State,” Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, said.

Some of the guests at the event include Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; former House Speaker, Dimeji Bankole; former Ogun governor, Segun Osoba; APC national women leader, Betta Edu; governors Nasir El-Rufai, Biodun Oyebanji, and Mohammed Badaru of Kaduna, Ekiti, and Jigawa states respectively.

  1. Shettima that is call transparency before assuming office. Have you so quickly forgotten how Buhari in 2015 told the whole Nigerians that he had no money to buy presidential form under APC. So it means Buhari had even advertise poverty before assuming office. Please Shettima those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
