Crisis: Melaye denies calling Seyi Makinde an ingrate

Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Senator Dino Melaye on Wednesday denied a news report which said he attacked Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the news on a blog claimed that Melaye’s alleged criticism of Makinde was in response to the governor’s open endorsement of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Makinde, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and three other governors of the PDP; Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) have been calling for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, as a condition to support the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The platform went ahead to share a screenshot to back up its report.

But reacting, Melaye, the lawmaker who represented Kogi West Senatorial district in the National Assembly, wrote on his known Twitter handle: “There is a deliberate plan to create disaffection in the PDP family. This news here is a fat lie from hell. PDP will survive all these lies and propaganda.”
