The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has welcomed overtures by the camp of Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, stating that he is ready to resolve all issues.
Below is a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, signed by his media aide, Paul Ibe;
“The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar welcomes reports that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his group are favourably disposed to the resolution of the issues with the PDP candidate.”
“Atiku Abubakar also expresses his commitment to a negotiation that will resolve the crisis of confidence and pave the way for a much stronger and united PDP.”
“The former Vice President of Nigeria, notes that never at any time of the differences that ensued has the doors been shut to Governor Wike and his group.”
“He enjoins every leader of the party and their supporters irrespective of their leanings to be open-minded and support the process of resolution of the extant issues.”
This newspaper recalls that Wike alongside 4 other governors have been at loggerheads with Atiku ever since the party’s presidential primaries some months ago.

APC HAS FRUSTRATED THIS COUNTRY………I AN BEGING WIKE TO FORGIVE AND FORGET EVERYTHING. I BELIEVE THAT WE ALL WILL ENJOY AND HAVE BETTER OPRTUNITIES IF THE COUNTRY IS DELIVERED FIRST.
You mean to let a man who swore to resign before party faithfuls should a northern get the presidential ticket seat tight? Even though southerners were robbed of their chances? So all Wike has to do to please you people is to support the injustice and pretend everything is alright when in fact it is not?
This is absolutely not an advise believe me.
A northerner cannot be president and same northerner party chairman at the same time, it has never happened before in PDP. Is either Atiku resign or Ayu go
Except Atiku is ready to let Ayu the party chairman resign his position before there can meaningful dialogue anything short of this will not work.
Hmmmmm….Wike don’t forgive and forget because them the north have never forgive and will never forgive and forget…don’t dounce to their tune or agree with them…they want your support now..believe me later and after the election and the win tey will definitely deal with you make my words.
Atiku is not sincere with any negotiation with Wike. He just want to appear as the good guy before the media thereby portraying Wike as the enemy and the one driving the conflict.
That strategy will not work at all. A sincere man who wants to make peace should start by putting things in place. Let Ayu go, and allow peace a chance Oga Atiku.
I bet it, whether Wike reconciles with Atiku or not, if Atiku wins the presidency, Wike go hear nhwen.
I don’t support this wike should avoid atiku northeners are saying there are born to rule this right time for southerners after all we have able candidates who can do more than him
The electoral law makes it impossible for any presidential aspirant to make it to Aso Villa, without the supports of party faithfuls from other parts of the country. The battle now, is between the ruling party APC and major opposition party, the PDP. All other parties enjoy only regional support.
More so, all the candidates supported by Wike come from PDP! For the sake of these candidates and for his future political carrier, Wike needs to reconcile with his party, else he will be making a fruitless venture.
If we have people like His Excellency Nyesom wike 5 in this Country, who always stand for the truth and justice and speak for the interest of the people, not his own personal interest this country wouldn’t have being were we are now. May God Almighty continue to strengthen him and with him to fight and win. God bless Nigeria.
I think Governor Wike and Atiku should have. Unilateral agreement which will lead to southern participation in the forth coming government
