Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal has said that the Presidential Candidate of the All progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not win the 2023 Presidential Elections.
Lawal, who appeared on Channels Television on Thursday, disclosed that the Candidate of the labour Party, Peter Obi stands a better chance of winning.
He also claimed that Tinubu said campaigning in the South-East was a waste of time and resources during the party’s primaries.
“During the convention, he didn’t even allow us go the South-East,” Mr Lawal said on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He said it was a waste of time and money.”
Mr Lawal has already endorsed the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, although he is still a member of the APC.He broke off with Mr Tinubu after the latter announced a Muslim as his running mate for the 2023 polls.
Mr Lawal and some other APC members had advocated for the appointment of a Northern Christian in order to balance the ticket.
Tinubu is not yet a president and he has already started looking down on South East, the same people you need their votes to be president .
South East will pay him back in the poll
Thank god Tinubu knows that campaning in the South East is a total waste of time. If Papa Awolowo did not make it here, how does he think he will succeed? He never bothered to come here before the primaries. But yesterday, he was in Ebonyi State. Lip service and the highest form of hypocrisy! He has failed already
Self centeredness does not pay a good leader. Indeed politics is an investment that will be recouped by all means in Nigeria. No wonder Tinubu refuses to behave like the Shepherd who left the entire herds in search of the only one that has missed. Sacrifice is the hall mark of any good leader. Campaigning in the East whether it yield good or bad result should be seen as a sacrifice which is expected from any leader who wants the best for his country/citizens.
