Petition to stop Kano State Govt from ‘harassing’ Sanusi hits over 9000 signatures

A petition to stop the Kano State Government from ‘harassing’ the former emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi has gotten over 9,000 signatures on Wednesday.

As at when POLITICS NIGERIA checked around 2:30pm, the petition initiated by Isa Odidi, Director of Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices on Change.org, has gathered 9,685 signatures.

The group said it is disheartening that Mr Sanusi who is regarded as one of the brightest people in the world his facing harassment from Kano Government.

The group also categorized Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje’s action as “political vendetta” against Mr Sanusi.

“This act of banishment is as medieval as it is antiquated in this digital age and is intended to inflict maximum suffering. Every Nigerian citizen is guaranteed the right to personal liberty according to Section 35 of the Nigerian constitution.

“The government is clearly perpetuating an illegal and unconstitutional act against HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II”, the group’s petition read.

Mr Odidi also demanded the immediate release of Mr Sanusi so that he can regain his liberty and be reunited with family members.

Although, this newspaper on Wednesday reported how the Kano State Government denied sending Mr Sanusi on exile.
