A suspected leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State, Okechukwu Ama-Nlemedim, has named a close confidant of Nnamdi Kanu, Chinasa Nworu, as one of those sponsoring them to unleash terror in Nigeria’s southeast region.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Ama-Nlemedim, popularly known as ‘Ejima’, and security operatives paraded him alongside another insurgent on Wednesday.
Security agents accuse him of being one of the masterminds of the numerous attacks on government facilities, the killing of policemen, and also responsible for the attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Owerri and Orlu in Imo State.
“Chinasa Nworu is our sponsor. He is abroad,” Ama-Nlemedim said.
“I just know him as Directorate of States (DOS) Commander for ESN.”
Asked how long Nworu has been sponsoring the ESN, Ama-Nlemedim replied: “Getting to two years now. Him with Okey Foreign. It is only Chinasa Nworu and Okey Foreign that sponsor us from abroad. The other one is in the village here.”
He added: “The reason Chinasa gave us (to perpetrate terror) is that these Ebubeagu people, anywhere wey we see them, make we attack them.”
