Member representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency of Ondo State, Tajudeen Adefisoye has alleged that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in the state.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adefisoye said he escaped the gun attack on Monday.
According to him, the attack occurred in his hometown, Idanre, while returning from a political event.
Adefisoye accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of being behind the attack. Specifically, he accused his main opponent in the forthcoming 2023 election, Festus Akingbaso, of being responsible for the attack.
He also stated that he has petitioned the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army in Akure.
“The assailants were hired by the PDP candidate (Akingbaso) for the House of Representatives.
“They shot directly at my vehicle but I thank God I was able to escape and have reported the case to the police and the Nigeria Army for investigation,” Adefisoye said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Akingbaso denied the allegations.
In a statement issued by his campaign organisation, the PDP candidate described the allegation as unfounded.
