UK sends message to Nigerians ahead of 2023 election

Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria on Friday asked Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in order to exercise their political rights in the forthcoming 2023 election slated for February and March.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of the British High Commission in Nigeria, Liang stated that the vote of qualified electorate matters.

“The 2023 general election is fast approaching and I’d like to encourage every eligible Nigerian voter to go pick up your PVC and exercise your voting right.

“Remember, the deadline is Sunday, the 29th, so hurry now and go get your PVCs, to enable you to participate in the democratic process of the election.

“Your vote counts,” she said.

The coming election will be the seventh time that the general elections will hold in Nigeria since the country returned to Democratic rule in 1999.

The leading candidates are Atiku Abubakar (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso (New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP), Bola Tinubu (All Progressives Congress, APC), and Peter Obi (Labour Party).
