The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has said the Nextier Poll which put the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead in the 2023 presidential race, is a “cooked up” and “far away from reality”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Bola Tinubu campaign’s reaction was contained in a statement on Sunday signed by Bayo Onanuga, its Director of Media and Publicity.
While describing the organisers of the poll as “jesters”, Onanuga declared that Obi “is not a major contender in the coming presidential election in Nigeria”.
The statement reads in part: “It is important to alert Nigerians and international community that the Pollsters at Nextier are working for the Labour Party and their poll results are all cooked up, far away from reality.
“We suspect that their first and second fallacious poll results are pretext to cause political crisis and riots in Nigeria after the February 25. They may be preparing ground for violent protest by Obi supporters who will allege rigging when their candidate is roundly defeated at the election, in which he is not likely to even come a distant 3rd.
“We want to state categorically that Peter Obi is not a major contender in the coming presidential election in Nigeria and no fantasy and fairytale poll can change the material facts.”
It would be recalled that ANAP polls conducted between September and December 2022 twice showed that Obi is ahead of the three other frontline candidates: Tinubu; Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
At the time also, the APC PCC alleged that the poll was skewed in favour of Obi, a former governor of Anambra State.
Why should Mr. Onanuga worry so much about a “false poll”? Polls don’t win elections so why not let the elections happen without fear and manipulation.

Peter Obi may not be a major contender but he could turn out to be a shocker. There is no doubt the fact that , he is currently a threat to be reckoned with. The game is becoming interesting. Surprise package is cooking…..
Almost all polls conducted, indicate that Obi( Labour Party) is ahead of the pack, and will win the election.
APC mostly and sometimes PDP, have continued to live in denial. Onanuga is insinuating that all these poll institutions are all working for Obi….no claim can be more preposterous .APC is known to be ready to buy anything that can be bought to skew public opinion in its favour. Inspite of all their underhand dealings, they have continued to slide in the polls.
They should pls allow the will of the people to prevail. Nigerians prefer Peter Obi. That’s the fact. Period.
Exactly I don’t know why they are always denying the fact that Peter obi is the chosen one for a peaceful and restored Nigeria is very obvious the earlier they realised that the better it would be for us all
