JUST IN: Fayose, 4 others react to expulsion from PDP

As the 2023 election gathers steam, Oluwajomiloju Fayose and the four other chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who were expelled from the party on Friday by its national leadership, have said only death can remove them.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Fayose, Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji, Lere Olayinka, Akerele Oluyinka and Emiola Adenike Jennifer were expelled by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP over alleged anti-party activities.

Also expelled from the party are former Enugu State governor, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and Chris Ogbu (Imo State).

Reacting to their sack, the Ekiti PDP chieftains who remained defiant said their expulsion is inconsequential.

According to them, “the lawlessness of the Senator Iyorchia Ayu led National Working Committee (NWC) will fail ultimately.”

In a statement in Ado Ekiti late on Friday, the PDP chieftains said members and supporters of the party in the state should disregard the expulsion notice and continue to work for their victory in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

“In the face of the law, we remain candidates of the PDP and only death can change that. Therefore, we will keep working to win our elections while we wait on the court to determine the propriety or otherwise of the party’s decisions,” their statement reads in part.
