Naira: ‘An invitation to anarchy’ – Wike attacks Buhari

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for his direct affront to Supreme Court.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that a week after the Supreme Court ordered the Federal Government to allow the continued use of old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes, President Buhari countered that order.

The Nigerian leader, in a national broadcast Thursday morning, admitted ‘difficulties’ that the new currency policy is causing Nigerians, but only approved the continued use of N200 notes as a legal tender across Nigeria.

The old N200 will exist alongside the new N200 notes, he said, adding that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will continue to mop up the old N500 and N1,000 still in the hands of Nigerians.

Reacting while speaking on Friday at the campaign flag-off rally in Ngo town, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area (LGA), Governor Wike insisted that such disrespect of the order of the highest court in the country is a clear call for anarchy.

“I believe in a country that respects the rule of law. The president ought to respect the Supreme Court and when you do not respect the Supreme Court then it is anarchy you are talking about.

“So, we from Rivers Stat,  we condemn the position of Mr. President for not respecting the decision of the Supreme Court,” Wike said.

  1. Honesty can not be hidden, the Rivers State Governor has spoken in true honestly. The president nd what ever agenda is rather sending a wrong signal at this election period, Nigerians are suffering due to the CBN nd FG wrong timing on the old Naira redesign, all the excuses don’t make much sense to the greater population of the Pple in the Country, a leader that doesn’t care about the pains of the Pple he’s leading, are these not the same Pple who elected u?

  2. Why not allow a smooth transition of the old Naira Notes, those excuses don’t make any sense, a true politician always knows his way around, don’t they have some level of control over the verious Bank Managers in the Country, are they not the basic reason for the said scarcity in the Country? You well know that the new Naira note can never be in short supply to those politicians going into election nd the others once too, you guys are only hurting the ordinary Citizens across the country, you can’t say you don’t know that so far, all the money our CBN has printed is in hands of you the politicians, vote buying didn’t start today nd won’t end now or even in the near future, all this western world making noise about vote buying, are they not worst criminals during their own election season, we won’t die here bcos of their evil policies that is now failing all round the world
