JUST IN: Obasanjo’s in-law sent to jail, see why

John Abebe, a younger brother of the late former First Lady, Stella Obasanjo, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for forgery and money laundering.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Justice Mojisola Dada of an Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos, sentenced Abebe to prison on Friday.

Justice Dada, however, gave the convict an option of a fine of N50 million to be paid within 30 days in lieu of imprisonment.

The trial judge gave the judgement after it was established that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and convicted the in-law of former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, accordingly.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Abebe before the court.

The anti-graft agency in the charges claimed that Abebe “knowingly forged” a November 30, 1995 letter written by BP Exploration Nigeria Limited to Inducon Limited.

  1. Why? So many things lead to this ! Indulgence? Greed? Ego ? Self esteem complex? larger than life lifestyle? Etc etc so sad an ending ! Any appeal as to miscarriage of justice or is the judge lenient ? Very likable fellow !
