There is tension in Delta communities as a security officer and a civilian were discovered dead in Ugbolu community, near Asaba, 24 hours before the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the assailants suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) invaded the community and killed two persons on Friday morning.
The security officer was reportedly beheaded and his body burnt with a motorcycle along Ugbolu mi-5 road.
This newspaper gathered that the IPOB gunmen were chanting “no election” while shooting, resulting in the death of two persons; a security officer and a civilian who was allegedly stabbed to death.
The remains of the two victims of the criminals were found along Ugbolu road around 7:30 am on Friday, near the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the state, Bright Edafe, confirmed the killing, however, he said only one dead body was found.
He added that police operatives are investigating the crime.
