Deji Adeyanju, a former Director of New Media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday said Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the party refused to yield to the pressure from Governor Nyesom Wike and his group to resign, “because he didn’t believe Atiku could win” the 2023 election.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 election lost to Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu was declared the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday morning after he polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat fellow contenders – Atiku who polled 6,984,520 votes, Labour Party’s Peter Obi had 6,101,533 votes to come third and candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso with 1,496,687 votes.
According to Adeyanju, following the outcome of the just-concluded election, Ayu “will reactivate his friendship with Tinubu”.
“Ayu didn’t resign because he didn’t believe Atiku could win. He will now reactivate his friendship with Tinubu to sabotage PDP every step of the way. Imagine having a National Chairman & National Secretary of opposition that are in cohort with the president,” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
