Armed gangs, known locally as “bandits”, have attacked travellers along Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi road in Zamfara State.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that a youth leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) identified as Hamdan Alhazzai Shinkafi, suffered deflated tyres due to several gunshots from the terrorists in the attack which happened on Tuesday morning.
A source said the bandits riddled travellers’ vehicles with bullets.
Bandits have killed about 8,000 people since 2011 and forced more than 200,000 to flee their homes, according to an estimate by Brussels-based Crisis Group.
Some of them are also known to have developed ties with international terror groups such as Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
