BREAKING: Panic Grips Residents as Multiple Explosions Rock Maiduguri

Residents of Maiduguri were thrown into panic on Monday evening after multiple loud explosions rocked parts of the city.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents are believed to have planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) across several locations in the area.

The explosions reportedly affected the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), the Monday Market Roundabout, and the Elkanemi axis.

Sources said the first blast occurred around 7pm, shortly after Muslims broke their fast.

As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether there were casualties.

The incident came hours after terrorists launched an attack on a military facility in Ajilari, on the outskirts of Maiduguri. The attackers reportedly set parts of the facility ablaze and made away with a military patrol vehicle.

However, troops were said to have repelled the assault, killing several of the insurgents, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
