Abia APC vows disciplinary action against party chieftain for endorsing Gov Otti

The Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from remarks attributed to Uche Ogah, former minister of state for mines and steel development.

The party said Ogah allegedly declared at a Labour Party event in Isuikwuato that he would support the party to win the Abia governorship election in 2027 despite being a member of the APC.

In a statement on Monday, Uche Aguoru, publicity secretary of the Abia APC, said the party rejects the remarks credited to Ogah.

Aguoru said: “The statement credited to Dr. Ogah does not in any way reflect the position, ideals, or aspirations of the APC in Abia State.

Aguoru said the party had previously suspected that Ogah was working against its interests, adding that the party recently suspended him from its communication platforms.

“This informed the decision taken a few days ago to suspend him from all party communication platforms, including official WhatsApp groups and chatrooms,” he said.

Aguoru said the Abia APC remains united under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

His words:“The APC in Abia today is united, focused, and resolute under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

“The party is firmly committed to winning elections across the board from the presidential and national assembly to the governorship and state assembly come 2027.

“We strongly condemn the irresponsible and unfortunate anti-party posture for which Dr. Ogah appears to have become notorious.

“Consequently, the party will immediately activate its disciplinary mechanisms to thoroughly investigate the matter and recommend the most appropriate sanctions.”

Aguoru urged party members and residents of Abia to disregard the remarks attributed to Ogah, noting that the APC will not tolerate actions that undermine its interests.

“Let it be clearly stated that the APC, as presently constituted, will not tolerate moles, saboteurs, or individuals whose only path to political relevance is through acts that weaken the party from within,” he said.
