Following the dissatisfaction of some electorate in the presidential election in Nigeria, protests rocked the Nigerian capital city, Abuja, on Tuesday against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that angry voters objected to the alleged discrepancies in the election results signed by party agents against what was uploaded at INEC portal.
The protesters, who are mostly youths, took over the Unity Fountain.
The demonstrators besieged the Unity Fountain with placards bearing various inscriptions, such as “We stand for Justice, we fight for a new Nigeria,” “President Buhari keep your promise,” “Democracy not INECcracy” who owns Nigeria? The people,’”. They called on President Muhammadu Buhari to “save Nigeria from collapsing”.
Speaking at the protest ground, Convener of the demonstration, Moses Ogidi Paul of Yell-Out Nigeria decried the failure of INEC in the just-concluded presidential election.
Ogidi said it is not too late for INEC to redeem its image.
He said although Nigerians had great appetite for democracy and were keen to engage in various civic activities, their expectations were dashed.
According to him, the apathy recorded at the governorship and states House of Assembly elections conducted last Saturday was a clear consequence of failures by political elites and “unfortunately, INEC.”
HEAVY PROTESTS INDEED!
Santy pockets of obirodents and the Obi DUNCES on idle ranting
I COUNTED ABOUT 20 MISINFORMED MISLED THOUGHTLESS IDLE MINDS WITH OUTPOSTS OF THEIR CONFUSED MINDS.
You’re mentally deranged
Mickykarim, sorry ,you don’t know what you are saying.I think that ,the religion you claim should have thought morality.
People like you die licking people’s asses, nothing come out from people like you. How is asking for a better elections or a better country misinformed or even thoughtless. Because u think this rascality will favour, not minding millions out there that are suffering.
I stand by these youths for a peaceful protest until the right thing is done. The degree of mischief and disenfranchisement during the presidential election was unbelievable. It was unprecedented to say the least. It was a daylight robbery!
If we don’t correct it now, it will spell doom for the country. The just concluded elections of last week was laughable as a result.
You are being economical with the truth. Though we have some regrettable disruptions that took place across the country, the election was overall considered fair and credible as it complied substantially with the provisions of our laws. You guys are just bad loosers. Nothing untoward will happen by His grace and Nigeria will survive. Tinubu would take the country to greater heights in
Jesus name
These misguided youths are the Obidients movement who caused many people to die during the End SARS crisis. Their leader Obi is a bad looser who must be taught a lesson. People like him should be banned from taking part in politics. He is leading the youths many of whom are misguided ethnic bigots towards a path of destruction. Buhari must call him to order now because if some of them are killed by security outfits now, they will be shouting abuse of human right.
