A former governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has said Nigerians are increasingly frustrated and desperate for a new political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.  m

Politics Nigeria reports that the former governor made this known on Monday in Abuja during a political event.

Dickson, who currently represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, spoke at the unveiling of the digital membership registration portal of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The event drew party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the country.

The lawmaker said the growing hardship and dissatisfaction in the country have left many citizens searching for alternatives.

According to him, “Nigerians are angry with the status quo. Nigerians are not only angry, but they are also hungry, and they are hungry for change. The NDC is available as the tool for effecting the change Nigerians want.”

He described the newly launched platform as a major step toward building a stronger and more inclusive political structure. Dickson noted that the initiative would help attract Nigerians from different backgrounds, including those in the diaspora.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by key party figures, including the National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, alongside other leaders at various levels.

Speaking further, Dickson portrayed the NDC as a fresh political force without internal crises. He said the party is focused on ideology, national unity, and development, unlike what he described as the failing structures in older parties.

In a symbolic comparison, the former governor likened the party’s emergence to a biblical rescue mission.

“The NDC in Nigeria of today, politically, is like Noah’s family. Those who can see the signs should come on board early,” he said.

He added that although the party is still new, it is already gaining attention across the country. According to him, structures are being put in place at state, local government, and ward levels to ensure effective grassroots mobilisation.

The development comes shortly after Dickson announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He had cited internal crises and poor leadership as reasons for leaving the opposition party.
