A former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, has been kidnapped from his residence in Gwagi village of Wamba Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the abduction took place on Friday morning, when armed men broke into his home and forcibly took him away.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, issued a press release stating that a police tactical team, in collaboration with other security personnel, had launched a search operation to rescue the victim unharmed.
The police spokesman urged the public to remain calm and provide any information that could aid the investigation and subsequent rescue of Gye-Wado.
The motive behind the abduction is still unknown, and no demands have been made by the kidnappers.
