A 40-year-old man, Sodade Sesan, has been arrested for attempting to murder a commercial motorcyclist, commonly known as an okada rider, in an effort to steal his bike.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to David Akinremi, the Commandant of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, Sesan stopped Mohammed Bashiru, the bike rider, under the guise of being a passenger. After agreeing on a fee of N800, Sesan directed Bashiru to the Abuja Bar area in Ilisan Remo.
It was at this location that Sesan pulled out a knife, slashed Bashiru’s neck, and made off with his N450,000-worth Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.
This newspaper reports that the incident occurred on April 4th at around 10 am in the Ode-Remo area of Remo North Local Government in Ogun State.
Bashiru was fortunate to survive the ordeal, and he was taken to the Ogere Medical Centre, where he received treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Sesan was apprehended after he removed the motorcycle’s number plate and dumped it in a latrine in his residence. He took the stolen bike to a burial ground at Kehinde Avenue in Isara-Remo, where he was reportedly searching for potential buyers.
It was learnt that Amotekun operatives’ careful intelligence led to Sesan’s arrest and the recovery of the missing bike.
Akinremi expressed his appreciation to the people of Ogun State for their cooperation with the Amotekun Corps in providing them with valuable information.
