Ibrahim Bomai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the Yobe South Senatorial District election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the announcement was made on Saturday at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum by the Returning Officer, Abatcha Melemi. Melemi explained that Bomai secured 69,596 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Halilu Mazagane of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 68,885 votes.
It can be recalled that the election in the zone was initially declared inconclusive due to over-voting at the Manawachi polling unit in the Fika Local Government Area of the state. However, supplementary elections were subsequently held at the affected polling units on Saturday, leading to the declaration of Bomai as the winner.
