BREAKING: Kano Govt Declares Sanusi to Lead Eid-el-Fitr Durbar

The Kano State Government has announced that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, will lead this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar, alongside the introduction of strict measures to maintain law and order during the festivities.
The decision, approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, was based on credible intelligence suggesting that some individuals may attempt to disrupt peace during the Sallah period.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government reiterated its commitment to preserving Kano’s cultural heritage while placing top priority on security.
According to the statement, the Hawan Idi procession will be led by Emir Sanusi, beginning from the Kofar Mata Eid Ground and moving through designated routes to Gidan Shettima, before concluding at Kofar Fatalwa within the emir’s palace.
The government added that Hawan Nasarawa would take place in a modified format without horseback displays, while other traditional processions, Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau and Hawan Dorayi, have been suspended for now in the interest of public safety.
Security agencies have been directed to heighten surveillance and enforce compliance with all directives before, during and after the celebrations.
Residents were urged to remain peaceful, law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel, while also avoiding the spread of unverified information.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration, extending Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims across the state.
