The Kano State Police Command has announced that it has apprehended 44 individuals for offenses ranging from armed robbery to drug trafficking and thuggery in various operations conducted throughout the Kano metropolis.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this is a part of the police force’s ongoing efforts to combat thuggery and drug abuse in the area.
In a statement issued on Thursday, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that this success was achieved through an aggressive clearance operation to restore peace in the state.
The operation was spearheaded by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe, the Officer in Charge of Anti-Daba Squad.
Kiyawa added that the aim of the operation was to eradicate all forms of criminality in Kano State, particularly the menace of thuggery, drug abuse, and other social vices.
“All the suspects from various addresses within Kano Metropolitan were arrested with dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, robbed and stolen properties.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations”, he said.
To guarantee a peaceful 2023 Eid El Fitr Sallah Celebration throughout the state, State Commissioner of Police Command, Mamman Dauda, has warned that anyone discovered in possession of weapons during the festivities will be apprehended.
Furthermore, he urged all criminals to reform or exit the state entirely, as they will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
