Taraba Gov. Ishaku fires warning to govt officials, others

Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has cautioned public servants, particularly high-ranking government officials, against misappropriating government vehicles and properties.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a circular sent to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Jalingo, the state capital, on Thursday, the governor made it clear that any public servants caught engaging in such actions would face the consequences.

The circular, which was disseminated through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and signed by the Permanent Secretary of General Services, Ibrahim Dan’Azumi, declared that any public servants who steal government vehicles or properties will face the full force of the law.

The circular reads, “it has come to the attention of government that some public office holders are planning to go with the utility vehicles allocated to their MDAs as parting gift without express approval or formal release letter from the office of the SSG of the state as has been the normal procedure and practice.”

He said the governor “has directed that no government official is permitted to tamper or move any utility vehicle, including the Toyota Hilux recently allocated to them.

“Any of the public officials that violated the above directives will be confronted with the long arm of the law.

“Consequently, any public office holder or senior government functionary that has contravened or is planning to go against these directives, is advised to desist forthwith because the government will use all legal means to retrieve its property.”
