The camp of Presidential Candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President-elect Bola Tinubu’s promise to increase workers’ salaries on May Day.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Daniel Bwala, the spokesman for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, made the comment while responding to Tinubu’s pledge on Workers’ Day.
In a tweet, Bwala questioned Tinubu’s ability to fulfill his promise, stating, “The president-elect was yesterday quoted to have said he will increase workers’ salaries. Where will he get the money? Let him start by paying their outstanding salaries first.“
It was reported that Tinubu made the commitment in a statement released on Monday in Abuja to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration. Tinubu vowed to lead a Nigeria where workers can earn enough to support their families and live a decent life. He also promised to be a dependable ally for workers as they fight for social justice.
