FG shuts Kano airport, two others over coronavirus

The Federal Government has shut at least three of its international airports to avoid foreigners from gaining entrance into the country.

This is to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The airports closed down are Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

“The shutdown was part of its strategic measures to curb the spread of coronavirus across the country,” the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Musa Nuhu, said.

The closure of these airports takes effect from Saturday, March, 21, till further notice.

Meanwhile, the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos are left open without flight operations from the thirteen COVID-19 high-risk countries.
