Insecurity: Gunmen Abduct Kano LG Secretary in Fresh Terror Attack

Gunmen have abducted the Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area in Kano State after attacking his residence in Dinya town.
The Speaker of the local government council, Hon. Sabo Yusuf Usman, told the BBC that the incident occurred late on Friday night.
“The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. while the secretary was asleep in his house,” he said.
Usman explained that the attackers first woke the secretary’s son, who was sleeping in the outer compound, and forced him to knock on his father’s door under the pretense of having a stomach ache.
“After he knocked, his father asked who it was, and he replied that it was his son. When asked what the problem was, he said he had a stomach ache. The father then opened the door, and the gunmen immediately seized him along with the son,” Usman said.
He added that the gunmen later released the son but escaped with the secretary before security operatives could arrive.
Kibiya Local Government Area has largely been considered peaceful, although neighbouring areas such as Tsanyawa and Shanono, which share borders with Katsina State, have experienced repeated bandit attacks.
Security agencies are reportedly investigating the incident and efforts to rescue the abducted secretary are ongoing.
