‘ADC Are Haters of Good Things’ – Lagos Speaker Blasts Opposition at Tinubu’s Birthday

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing members of the party as “haters of good things.”
He made the remark during a special prayer gathering held in Lagos to mark the 74th birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The event drew political stakeholders, loyalists, and supporters of the President. It was organised as part of activities to celebrate Tinubu’s life and leadership.
Speaking at the gathering, Obasa did not hold back in his criticism of opposition figures, particularly those aligned with the ADC.
In a pointed statement, the Speaker mocked the party by reinterpreting its acronym. He said it stands for “Aggrieved Disjointed Council,” accusing its members of spreading misinformation and lacking sincerity in their political engagements.
He said: “Some people are haters of good things, Aggrieved Disjointed Council, ADC, they have been going about spreading fake news and why did I say so?”
Obasa also took a swipe at a former ally, widely believed to be ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola. Without mentioning his name directly, the Speaker described the individual as a betrayer who once shared close political ties with them but later turned against the group.
He said: “We also have one who is a great betrayal who ate with us and at the end of the day, he closed the border. Whenever you see somebody with clothes without a pocket, just run away.”
The Lagos lawmaker further criticised past leadership in Osun State, alleging poor governance during the period the unnamed figure held office. He claimed there was a lack of proper administrative structure, insisting that key positions were left unfilled for years.
“We know that for four years there was no commissioner, no local government, it was sole proprietor management for eight years and now they are coming back to tell us that they have magic wand they want to use, something that they did not use while they occupied the office,” Obasa said.
He stressed that he would not associate himself with the ADC, maintaining that Nigerians are already disillusioned with the party and its promises.
The Speaker used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to President Tinubu, praising his leadership and contributions to national development.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration, describing Tinubu as a leader committed to progress and stability.
The birthday prayer session featured goodwill messages, prayers for the President, and calls for unity among political leaders in the country.
